Glow’s UI in 2006

I’m currently working on a proper blog post, one with phrases like “phase one” and “cooldowns” and “don’t stand in the fire” in it. But while that one is being crafted, here is a silly post.

Digging through screenshots on my hosted space, I found a few oldies and thought it would be nice to share this one.

Where to start?
Just some things I notice looking at this…

The raid team. This was my first raiding guild, and even though it was 40 man days, and even though it was five years ago… I know those names so well. All of them.

Buba, Soulpyre and Mori are all offline because they were all in the same house. Crial is in the mage group as she was our lonely shadow priest. The officers/raid leaders in group one. Vali. Lemina. Farqu who got his name changed so often it was a running joke. Ditht who had more gold than the rest of the guild combined. Poncho with his crazy sense of humour. Glowing who hated me for stealing his name. Mith and Sary; Jez, Trin and Roch…. yes well. Good times.

The time. It’s midnight. It’s gate event time. This isn’t the opening, this is a pre-event. But iirc we tried to keep quiet about how far along we were on the quest so we didn’t have server crashes and/or mass griefing while we were working on it.

Ah Fandral, how we have come full circle.

My ui. Ha! Well I’m running Titanbar or similar, and … is that Bigwigs? Raid alert? Omen? What was CT… I can’t remember. And there’s Decursive Whispercast! Built-in raid frames and action bars though… Except it looks like I’ve used a mod to move my player/target frames; advanced!

My action bars Oh, the grand old days of down ranking: three different Healing Touches on my bar, along with RG, RJ and the two dispels. Hibernate and Entangling roots because we used to CC a lot in those days (dragon-based dungeons anyone?) And Mark of the wild and Gift of the wild… and they had the same icon back then, so it looks it’s there twice.

Mana potions AND those mana foods from Felwood. Heavy farmage to get those Health pots, runn-tunn tubers and bandages. And finally, my waters.

Looks like I have a macro to announce that my dragon target is slept. Another macro called “doom” which I assume I used to emote at Mandy. And two macros to turn combat logging on and off. I guess I’ve trawled logs for a while…

My gear. The pineapple staff. Cenarion Legs/feet by the looks of it and Stormrage shoulders. And I assume chest as well as Cenarion chest is a dress.

Ah it was fun to be in a server-first guild. But not sure I’d still be as keen to do the midnight events and the 20+hours a week raiding we sometimes did. Still. It’s always fun to look back.
